Carbon monoxide hydrogenation over alkali-promoted Rh/Al2O3, Rh/V2O3/SiO2 and Rh/ThO2/SiO2

چکیده
Addition of Li, Na, K and Cs to a 1.5 wt% Rh/Al,O, catalyst resulted in a decrease of the hydrocarbon formation rate, while the methanol formation rate was almost unaffected. The overall result is an increased oxygenate selectivity at a decreased total activity. The oxo-selectivity increased in the order unpromoted < Li < Na< K < Cs. The results suggest that the main role of the alkali promoter is to decrease the carbon monoxide dissociation reaction. Rh/SiO, catalysts promoted with ThO, or V,O, had higher C&-oxygenate selectivities and a higher activity than a Rh/Si02 catalyst. Addition of Li, Na, K and Cs did not increase the oxoselectivity of the ThO,and V,O,-promoted Rh/SiO, catalysts. Independent of the kind of alkali added, it mainly decreased the activity and lowered the hydrogenation rate, suggesting that the added alkali blocked the special perimeter sites which are held responsible for the ThO, and V,O,, promotion effect or that the added alkali formed a mixed oxide with the promoter oxide. Alkali ions, therefore, did not improve the catalytic behaviour of the ThO,and V,O,-promoted Rh/SiO, catalysts.

Combination of supported bimetallic rhodium–molybdenum catalyst and cerium oxide for hydrogenation of amide
Hydrogenation of cyclohexanecarboxamide to aminomethylcyclohexane was conducted with silica-supported bimetallic catalysts composed of noble metal and group 6-7 elements. The combination of rhodium and molybdenum with molar ratio of 1:1 showed the highest activity. The effect of addition of various metal oxides was investigated on the catalysis of Rh-MoO x /SiO2, and the addition of CeO2 much i...

The thermochemical processing of biomass is an alternative route for the manufacture of fuel-grade ethanol, in which the catalytic conversion of syngas to ethanol is a key step. The search for novel catalyst formulations, active sites and types of support is of current interest. In this work, the catalytic performance of an Rh/MCM-41 catalyst has been evaluated and compared with a typical Rh/Si...
متن کاملCatalytic hydrogenation of amino acids to amino alcohols with complete retention of configuration.
Rh-MoOx/SiO2 is an effective heterogeneous catalyst for selective hydrogenation of amino acids to amino alcohols in a water solvent. MoOx modification of Rh drastically enhanced the activity and improved the selectivity and ee. Various amino alcohols were obtained in high yields (90-94%) with complete retention of configuration.

Well-defined model catalyst samples, prepared under ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) conditions, hold the potential of bridging the gap between traditional surface science and technical catalysis studies. However, work remains to understand and characterize reaction kinetics of such samples under more realistic pressure conditions, specifically, how reaction kinetics of a well-studied reaction (such as ...
متن کاملHydrogenation of carbon monoxide over vanadium oxide- promoted rhodium catalysts
The effect of vanadium oxide as support and promoter on supported rhodium catalysts on the CO hydrogenation has been investigated at 0.15 and 4.0 MPa. Rh/V,O, reduced at 723 K has a good selectivity toward oxygenated products, especially C,-oxygenates, but has a low activity added as a promoter to catalysts consisting and stability. Vanadium oxide of rhodium supported on silica and alumina show...
